Who Are We?

Hillside Baptist Church’s story began in 1961 when a group of Christ Followers planted a church in the Hillside community north of McLoud, Oklahoma.  Our story as a body of believers begins as each person trusts in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord above all. We are called to live our lives in community, to learn and grow together, to build one another up, and to become more and more devoted to following Christ.

We are not perfect, and all of us have - at one time or another - been strangers, new to the community of faith. Because of Christ, we are family, we are community, and we are living out life together.

HBC Pastor

Whether I preach, teach or serve, my purpose is to lead people into a closer walk with Jesus Christ.

I am passionate about taking the truth and hope of Christ to those in the community and around the world, and I am excited to be serving here alongside the community of Christ Followers at Hillside.

What We Believe

Though times have changed from the beginnings of this country church, the message of Jesus Christ will always stay the same.

At Hillside, we adhere to the inerrant Word of God which is preserved by God for all people today, and the foundational statements of faith found in the Baptist Faith & Message.

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, a testimony at the proper time.”

I Timothy 2:5-6

We believe that God is one God who knows us each completely and showed His love is this way: While we were still sinners, Christ died for our sins. Jesus Christ was buried and he was raised to life on the third day. You can trust Jesus as your living Savior and Lord because He lives forever. (Romans 5:8, I Corinthians 15:3-4, Hebrews 7:24)

We believe in the importance of the local body of believers. As fellow Christ Followers, we are called to worship God together, build up one another in Christ, and take seriously our mission to share the message of Christ in the broken world, baptize and disciple those who repent from sin and turn to Christ as Lord, and meet people in whatever circumstance with the truth and love of the Gospel - to the glory of God.

Mission Minded

At Hillside, we believe in giving back. Thanks to your generous giving, over 20% of the church’s general fund goes directly to the cooperative program supporting local, national and international missions. There are several opportunities throughout the year to participate in missions, allowing us to obey God’s call to pray for missionaries, to give toward mission work and to go on mission trips.

On a regular basis, our adults meet for mission training and are actively involved in mission projects. The youth and children also have specific mission projects in which they may participate during the year.

Harrah and Mcloud nursing homes

Many residents in nursing homes experience pronounced feelings of loneliness, frustration, uselessness, and pain. Hillside supports nursing homes in both McLoud and Harrah by taking the truth and hope of the gospel to them, while at the same time encouraging them to serve in little ways.
